It is generally less expensive than PTFE lined piping systems, and has several application advantages: it is easier to cut to length and install; it is easier to reuse; and it is available in smaller pipe sizes.
Compared to systems made of nickel alloys, such as stainless steel or Hastelloy, or of exotic metals, such as tantalum or zirconium, the FLUOR-O-FLO™ system is often a more cost effective solution to severe corrosion problems.

The system includes pipe and fittings that are connected using coupling-clamps uniquely designed for PTFE joints. They incorporate multiple o-ring seals designed to take advantage of the natural deformation (creep) of PTFE, eliminating the need to retighten joints. The joints are strong, reliable and leak tight.
The system is ideally suited for drainage applications in which highly aggressive fluids must be handled. These especially include laboratories in the pharmaceutical industry in which tough solvents and sometimes unpredicted fluid mixtures must be drained. Applications also include drain lines for concentrated acids and alkalis. The system is also well suited to other low-pressure process industry applications where the corrosion resistance and purity of PTFE are desirable. Micromold’s FLUOR-O-FLO™ PTFE and PVDF bulkhead fittings allow quick, easy connection of PVDF piping systems to any type of tank: plastic, metal, or lined. The fittings may be installed without adapters in either flat wall tanks, or most cylindrical tanks. For use with small diameter cylindrical tanks, we can supply custom adapters.
To provide the best possible seal, standard fittings are supplied with special FEP encapsulated o-rings which seal to the interior tank wall. The special encapsulated silicone hollow core o-ring provides sealing flexibility, and also compensates for any creep relaxation which may occur in the fitting body. The FEP encapsulation of the o-ring maintains the superior corrosion resistance of the fitting. For high temperature service, FEP or PFA encapsulated Viton™ or other o-rings can be substituted. Buttress form threads are used on the lock-nut to allow the compressive forces needed to obtain a proper seal of the o-ring against many difficult to seal interior tank surfaces.
